Packing up for the first time

This used to be my life.....getting up, packing up, getting on the route. It's been a few years. It's so fun to be getting back in the saddle. This time my pack is only 60 liters, no sled, no six weeks of rations and lots of technical gear.

Still packing is an art, and I'm looking forward to getting back to 'expert level'. I'm happy to say I got everything in and my pack felt great.

Mum and I are driving north today. Staying in Paihia then taking the tourist bus up to Cape Reinga. I'll get out and start walking, she'll get back in the bus. And I'll be back at her house in around 3 weeks.
